First, let me say exactly how impressed I was with backcountry.com I ordered these Hestra XCR Waterproof Gloves at 11pm on a Wed night and received confirmation in the mail that the order was highly processed and shipped at 12:30am the following morning – many people arrived as expected on Friday just in time to examine this weekend at a snowy Killington which due to substantial winds had many lifts de-activate all morning.

These Hestra XCR Waterproof Gloves are certainly, very nice and I’m particularly happy with them. Can’t chat for how well they knock off wet conditions, but in poisonous, windy cold, I had not any problems.

The Hestra XCR Waterproof Gloves details and excellent are impeccable. The inner down liner is secured at your wrist with a full circumference strip of velcro. A smaller carabiner connects the two hand protection at a brass eyelet – donrrrt worry about it of cheap plastic connectors bursting under cold/duress. For us, the school kid-like carpus bands were my favorite element. I’m constantly taking my hand protection off at different points snowboarding down a trail to take pictures of my kids, as well as having the ability to rapidly pull off a glove to fish out a camera without the need of fear of dropping and burning off a glove is nice reassurance.

The goat leather is quite soft and supple. I consider this could be reworked which includes a tougher leather. Hestra XCR Waterproof Gloves clearly expresses on the tag that snowboarding/board edges are sharp and grow careful handling with the baseball gloves as you can cut your leather – this concerned me when I picked up the skis, especially when scrambling around to obtain them secured on a gondola car. This Gore Bike Wear Cross II Gore Tex Waterproof Gloves is personally my first encounter with Gore products, i have to say that after using these gloves for 2 , 3 weeks on my morning bike voyages, Gore is definitely a place I’ll be looking for potential clothing needs.

I’ve used them in the temp range of about 30F to 50F, and in this range where it’s cold and not yet freezing they are wonderful. What was giving me hassle was that tricky area exactly where it’s cold but not however freezing: I tried using summer gloves + liners, but the wind turbine was killer. I tried while using the gloves I’m planning on making use of when it gets below snowy, but my hands were ridiculously hot 20 minutes into the particular ride. I love the removable filling that you can dry outside each night: down on the top of the hand and fleece on the palm. Below treeline, Outdoor Research Alti Waterproof Gloves is my job to wear just liners and the actual glove shell, and that calculates great to keep my arms dexterous, dry and snow-totally free.

Two problems with them:

1) I measured my hand in line with OR’s sizing chart and purchased the Mediums, but I forgot to account for my continually wearing glove liners. I work with thicker liners, and so I needed the large. With liner, efficiency & shell they are too tiny on me, and subsequently frosty & unfomfortable.

2) As with every glove that is meant being very warm, and with the removable liner, you’re all thumbs. I understand why they make mittens – When you’ve got enough insulation on your hands, you might as well quit dexterity! However, I like Outdoor Research Alti Waterproof Gloves kinds of gloves, and the level connected with warmth VS finger movement seems just about right. I advise Outdoor Research Alti Waterproof Gloves.
